Using the NZBN to provide a better service
MINISTRY OF SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
The agency has identified a great opportunity to make that process easier and more effective using the NZBN across their single shared accreditation register of social sector service providers.
Currently, each social sector agency uses its own identification number for providers, so the providers end up being accredited by multiple social sector agencies each year. However, MSD's new register is ‘NZBN enabled’, allowing the various social sector agencies to collaborate and coordinate their accreditation process.
Identifying providers by using their NZBN also helps prevent duplication and inconsistent information across the sector.
This means the government can be more efficient, saving time for the providers, and delivering better services to the public. Initial trials are encouraging, showing significant savings occur when agencies work together in this way.
